About Omica
Omica are a 5-piece metal/alternative band from Dunfermline and were formed in early 2004 by Darren Phillips and Barry Duff. Since then, the band has gone through several line up changes to get to where they are today but have kept moving forward. All the members share the same enjoyment in writing songs together and playing to a live audience, which is what it's all about!
Each member has their own different influences they bring to the band that create our heavy yet melodic sound, ranging from the likes of Megadeth, Trivium, Killswitch Engage and Avenged Sevenfold to the likes the Deftones, Every Time I Die and Bring Me The Horizon.
The band have recently released their debut 3-track E.P and also have 2 live recordings aswell and have been showcasing these songs amongst others around local pubs and clubs in Dunfermline, including being the only metal band to play Dunfermline's Oxjam event at PJ Malloys. Omica have also branched out their music to the fans of Glasgow with two very well-reiceved perfomances at the Soundhaus with several more lined up in the future.
Omica have also taken the liberty of bringing more fans and excitement back to Tower House Comminuty Centre by organising monthly band nights with a variety of different local bands performing so watch this space!
With around eleven or so completed songs with a few more in the pipeline as well as several more gigs booked after years of hard work, things are finally looking good for Omica and we hope to continue what we're doing for a long time.

Preview of SIN Night on 26th September
We've got a metal mixed bag for you in September with a live lineup that shows the diversity of heavy metal as a genre.
AMOK play old school thrash metal in the style of Exodus, Testament, Forbidden and Slayer. Lacking a trace of pretension, these guys are impossibly tight, catchy and hard-hitting. Guaranteed to have you moshing, headbanging and drinking like it's 1986.
FARSEER (pictured) play melodic metal appealing to fans of Gamma Ray, Iced Earth and Sabaton, but they're not your typical power metallers. This is decidedly headbangable festival-metal.
OMICA combine influenced including Pantera, Iron Maiden and Metallica to create the kind of sound that could fill a stadium. Anthemic metal at its best.
We may add one band to the bill, but I think you'll agree, this is a pretty strong lineup. See you on September 26th, headbangers!

Gig Review from Soundhaus gig 7th March
Puny Human Promotions are well known and respected in the Glasgow area for promoting gigs for up and coming local metal bands, and whilst I had been to a number of their Promoted gigs over the last couple of years, I had never seen three young bands put on such a good show as this.
The first band to take the stage were Necropolis from East Kilbride, a young band who are clearly attempting to fill the daunting thrash metal shoes that will one day be left by the likes of Metallica and Slayer. Necropolis had a few fans with them, who got behind them from the very start, but it didn’t take them long to get the rest of the crowd on their side, especially with such imaginatively named songs as “Get Tae ****” in their repertoire. The band thrashed their way through the set, with singer Matthew Ward sounding more like the great James Hetfield (of Metallica) the more the gig went on. To finish off, Necropolis gave the crowd something to remember, with a note perfect rendition of Metallica classic “Seek and Destroy”.
As Necropolis left the stage, it was clear that most of the crowd were here to see the next band, Dunfermline’s Psychoanalysis, who, with the size of support they had, really should have headlined. As they set up, the melodic death metal band were treated to numerous choruses of “Psycho! Psycho! Psycho!”, and they didn’t disappoint their sizeable crowd. Set opener “Ultimatum” got a great reaction from the crowd who head-banged along throughout. The guitar solos and pounding riffs of Psychoanalysis really seemed to whip the crowd into a frenzy, and even those who were not there to see them at first, quickly warmed to what they were playing. Even the banter with the crowd was memorable as vocalist Gavin Hood asked the crowd, “Do we have any death fans in tonight? We mean the band, by the way, we don’t like necrophilia”. As their set came to a close, Psychoanalysis finished with what they called a fan’s favourite, “Hyde”, and there were no prizes for guessing why. Solos from both guitarists wowed the crowd along with thunderous drums and bass, before they left the stage, sparking yet more chanting.
Headlining on the night was another Dunfermline band, Omica, whose mainstream metalcore went down well with the generous crowd that had stayed on after Psychoanalysis. The highlights of Omica’s set were “Redemption” and “A World In Darkness”. The flashiness of guitarist Darren Phillips also had to be seen to be believed as he played his guitar behind his head and jumped into the crowd mid-song, in order to show off his undoubted talent. Omica also played a good cover of Killswitch Engage’s “Holy Diver” which again, showed the value of a cover song when you are a relatively unknown band, as it served to build a bridge between them and the crowd. Omica rounded off the night by giving a mention to all the bands who put on a thoroughly good show. Not to forget however, the unsung heroes, Puny Human Promotions, who brought these three wonderful young bands together.

First Ever Omica Gig Review
Lyndsay Moutter casts an eye over the local Dunfermline music scene. This month, she reviews the recent HBOS charity gig, staged at the Gladyer Inn on 24th August. You can visit Lyndsay's website at www.myspace.com/dunfermlinemusic.
Lyndsay details the set she herself played before going describing the rest of the bands that performed.
"The next band on were on Omica who are Mike, Barry, Jamie, Tommy and Darren, a metal act fresh out of the oven. They incorporate blazing solos, a very technical drum and bass line and mesmerizing lyrics. They played an amazing set and they were given an amazing response. After all, it was their first gig as a fivesome...but one would never have guessed! Omica are practising more and more and have whole bunch of gigs lined up so please visit www.myspace.com/omica and jump on the band wagon (pardon the pun) for Omica, they are going to be one of Dunfermline's leading metal acts!"
