Review:
A suspenseful introduction gives way to music I could only best describe as chilled in 'Liberty Row'. The slow, steady tempo lends the song a very smooth quality and offsets the rather fast pace of the singer.

The vocals are strong, the drumming is fierce and I have to give kudos where it’s due to the guitar effects throughout. Nice touches, guys!

It’s the opposition of music and lyrics that makes 'Liberty Row' so intriguing to me. Although it makes the song seem somewhat confused it also, in its own way, manages to work. The mix of fast and slow, calm and storm, compliment each other and this is added to by the sad edge in the lyrics. It’s easy to see why the band has chosen this song as a single.

‘Telescope Eyes’ is the second track on Jumping Ships ‘Liberty Row’ single and, personally, is a favourite of mine. It has that power ballad edge but with that easy listening softness Jumping Ship seems to be synonymous with.

The lyrics and music not only match each other brilliantly but also show of the lead singer’s voice well. He seems to be more in his element here than in ‘Liberty Row’ and this shines through in the delivery.

Again, comment has to be made about the impressive work on drums and guitar. ‘Telescope Eyes’ wins on the catchy chorus front too. The softness of the song adds a nice edge but there’s definitely room for a more power driven version. Jumping Ships, if they chose to, could easily pull it off and it would add a new dimension to not only the song but the band.

Overall I like Jumping Ships style. Love for the music is right there in both tracks and I think they provide something most people could get behind. Look out for Jumping Ships ‘Liberty Row’ available from October 11th
