Review:
What a Phenomenal CD. What a Phenomenal Band. That's how blunt I need to be about MiMi Soya.

The four piece from Brighton have such a fresh and distinctive sound it's unreal. I first came across this band online and after listening to a couple of their tracks, requested (and would have begged if necessary) for a CD to review. More than gladly they mailed it to me and here I am now.

After repeating the three track on my stereo at least thirty times I can safely say that the songs haven't got old, or boring, and are still as crisp and catchy as the first time I heard them. So what makes MiMi Soya's CD worthy of such praise? Well to jump straight to the point again, it just sounds so damn good. All three songs are well written, well sung, and well played. The levels are spot on, the vocals sounds amazing, and MiMi Soya just have a great amount of talent. Fronted by female vocalist 'Hero', it just gives their sound an edge which so many similar bands lack. Her voice simply uplifts the beat and the music and leaves you thirsty for more. Every little breakdown, beat, and chord is perfectly placed, and really shows you that this band know how to write songs.

Out of the three tracks on this CD I really cannot decide which one is my favourite. 'Crazy' and 'Faded' are slightly more upbeat, with some wonderful slowdowns and breaks, and although 'A Memoir' is a slightly slower track it does not lack pace or interest. The songs flow extremely well from start to finish, and that voice just emphasises every note even more. In fact I have already added this CD to my personal collection and I am eagerly awaiting their next release.

So how can I finish a review that has no negative points and been glorified to bursting point? Two sentences, 8 words... What a Phenomenal CD. What a Phenomenal Band.

Lucy McKenzie also wrote the vocal melodies for all three tracks within a couple of hours too apparently!! :)
