Review:
The first thing that strikes you about ‘A little late’ is the use of repetition to both great and detrimental effect throughout the song. Lyrically and musically the tone of the song is repetitive, which, can be a real shame. It gives the song a catchy, easy to remember edge, but also takes away from the quirky beat signature and excellent vocals at the same time. That being said do not underestimate the edginess’ power to draw you in

The impressive speed changes and interludes although few and far between give the song a definitive style of its own and make it hard to forget once you’ve heard it. It’s obvious that Morning Call really have aimed for a song that is both unique and polished here. All in all a good song, but it’s questionable whether ‘A little late’ is single material.

‘The last laugh’ seems to carry on Morning Call’s theme of repetition but in a way which lends itself well to this potential dance floor track. Factor in the even faster speed compared to ‘A little late’ and it’s a high probability.

The sad thing about this songs chosen style is that it makes 'The last laugh' hard to understand at points. This in turn makes it, at points, hard listening. There is so much going on that the song becomes cluttered and Morning Call’s hard work gets lost. The talent is there, like a floor in a teenager’s bedroom, it’s identifying it through the clutter that poses the problem. A problem which is sadly and fortunately not unique.

‘The last laugh’ is as catchy as it is fierce though with Morning Call yet again producing excellent riffs and good lyrics. At least the ones you can make sense of….

Morning Call set out ferociously to capture your attention and, knit picking aside, have delivered two distinctive and catchy songs that will do just that.
