Review:
The first thing I can say about The Carletons new single 'Bet Your Last Tenner That He Wont Get In' is that it's interesting to say the least. Whilst the song does seem very experimental and interesting theres some parts which just don't go down smoothly. At the beginning I noticed more of the flaws and unbalanced levels, which first made me note down all the negatives and none of the positives. The song is a mismatch of so many different genres and ideas, however that is the key thing that makes it work so well, and the more I listen to it the more I like it. The similarities to an early Arctic Monkeys is uncanny yet still sounding fresh, different, and so much more raw and rough around the edges.
The one thing that I would say about 'Bet Your Last Tenner That He Wont Get In' is that on first impressions it comes across as a very confusing and almost unlistenable track. But I guarantee the more you listen to it the more you will like it. Whilst there are some improvements to be made to the production and mastering, the songs structure and direction are superb. If you like todays indie bands but find them a bit too dreary for your taste buds then track down The Carletons; they take a whole new approach to indie, mess up it's hair, and kick it into action!
