The Maddisons - The Witch

Review:
The Maddisons deliver a befittingly spooky air in ‘The Witch’, which, if anything it would have been good to see them play up to more. The perfectly acceptable lyrics were lost amongst the songs attempts at unnecessary changes in pitch and tempo. One thing I did love was the spine tingling refrain about half way through.

In all its mixed messages 'The Witch' loses feeling and what could have been an excellent, incredibly creepy, song becomes a worn out haunted house. In a song chock full of suspense and eerie charm disappointment loomed. Even I could not help appreciating the ghostly backing vocals, and, the lyrics really were quite good. The Maddison’s skills are obvious from the get go in ‘The Witch’ and the song is a good showcase just not the great one it could have become.

It would have been nice to have been left with that same childhood haunted house adrenaline at the end, however, instead of the dejected ‘What now?’
