It soon became apparent that this evening consisted of the two bands that I'd most enjoy dancing to. When I first laid eyes on Dissolvedin, I must admit I imagined their music would be bland, but that serves me for being judgemental really. By the time they were half way through the second song the small crowd were clearly trying to contain the urge to dance, and heads were bobbing in time with the catchy tunes.
Their songs experimented with various vocals and polyphonies, with well-constructed instrumentals and facial expressions thrown in at any given moment. This band certainly showed that their passion may have been slightly stronger than their music, but in effect I was left with a smile as they left the stage and quite frankly, I wouldn't hesitate to see them again.
The Gunpowder Plot would not have a crowd tonight if it weren't for their supportive friends and families. This perhaps helped ease any nerves they may have had about playing, and made it easier for them to interact with their small audience. They played a relatively long set, bouncing their way through some truly upbeat and contagious songs. Their style is definitely different to what the mainstream has to offer and they pull it off with ease. I feel that this band should definitely promote themselves, as what they have to offer is some brilliant talent, shown with their front man swapping between vocals, keys and trombone with brilliant grace. Keep watching this band.
