The Gildredge Pub Eastbourne

Friday 22nd February 2008 - 10:00PM

The Gildredge pub for those of you who aren't familiar with it, is a small, somewhat gentle pub on the corner of Terminus Road, in the aging town of Eastbourne.

Tonight it seemed the members of Glamryze had better ideas than to keep the peace here. This became apparent when vocalist Mark strolled onto the raised corner of the room, which was entirely theirs for the next hour.

Wearily starting the set to the vacant expressions of those clearly unable to find a seat, in the packed out pub tonight. This four piece have obviously played to this type of crowd before. With a glorious amount of confidence their front man had no trouble entertaining this Friday night's drinkers. Maybe it was the alcohol intoxicating them, or maybe it was this fresh talent portraying a contagious energy that caused every person standing to move their limbs with the music.

No doubt there were a few musical slip ups, but nobody seemed to notice, especially when they broke into a cover of Jail House Rock, and evidently the ten-foot platform to which they were assigned was just not enough room for these guys. Their guitarist balanced precariously on the ledge, before joining the crowd for a bit of a dance.

With the singer bouncing off the bass drum, behind which a desk fan is cooling a modest looking man. This was a wonderful night of entertainment I'd no doubt like to see again.
