For a sold out gig the venue seemed very empty at 6:45 when the first of two support bands started. This didn't leave female fronted ska band Sonic Boom Six perturbed, especially as drummer Neil walked on to the crowd singing 'Happy Birthday' for him. Within the short set they played, vocalist Leila K managed to have the whole audience wrapped around her finger. Whether this was because the majority of the crowd was male I am yet to find out, but at such an early hour of the evening, before the drinking had really begun, there was a stunning engagement between the band and the small crowd.
Bouncing around the stage singing their hearts out, playing the well-known favourite 'Piggy In The Middle'. They hit every note perfectly, both within the music and within the souls of the few people lucky enough to witness this performance.

The venue was filling up when Streetlight Manifesto found their places on the warmed up stage. It seemed a lot of people came here tonight to see this band, and I don't blame them, for they played a range of songs that portrayed a lot of talent, and music that it was definitely difficult to stand still to. Halfway through the set I noticed that if I stopped moving for a moment, the floor was actually bouncing with the hundreds of onlookers enjoying the music.

When Reel Big Fish finished their brief introduction, the place was filled to the back with people witnessing them erupt into the well-known song, 'Sell Out'. The horns hitting every note with a wonderful perfection that encouraged fans to dance their hearts out and sing along to every word they knew. After a while I became very aware of all the voices shouting along to the brass parts, singing each riff with a 'doo doo doo' that was ever so uplifting.

The band took it in their stride to do more than just play their music tonight, but to entertain every last person in the room. Through strong American accents they joked about topics such as nudity and while creating impressive chemistry between the band, they also interacted with their audience with an enviable amount of ease.

Successfully working their way through a collection of new and old songs, including covers of 'Monkey Man' and 'Kiss Me Deadly' and even playing their terrific rendition of 'Take On Me'. Only the vocalist could hit the high note in this song, yet every person in the crowd screeched it out without a care for the poor person next to them, who was actually doing the same.

Reel Big Fish were stunning, undeniably. I'm sure if anyone tells you they did not have a good time for the music, I assure you, they are lying.

I bet that was an absolutely awesome gig! All 3 bands are worthy in their own right but to have them all in one show must have been superb! I've seen Reel Big Fish twice at the Concorde 2 and i'd certainly go see them again. Just a great band that will always guarentee to give a great performance!
